In the 19th century, all of the famous „Guitarist-Composers“ composed guitar duets. Just take a look at the beautiful compositions by Fernando Sor (1778-1839), Sor´s guitar duets being among the most brilliant, both musically and technically. Also, a very popular way of creating a guitar duet repertoire in the 19th century was, to take, - as Mauro Giuliani (1781-1829) did - the compositions of famous opera composers, like Rossini, and arrange these works for two guitars. Since then, the guitar duet has been a favorite form of performing chamber music for most guitarists. In the 20th century, a number of famous guitarists collaborated in forming duos for short periods of time, the first being Julian Bream and John Williams or even later Manuel Barrueco and David Russel. .
Our duo was founded in April 2004, being the result of an invitation we received from guitarist José Montenegro, Professor of guitar at the University of Guanajuato, Mexico, to concertize and give master classes in Mexico in May of that same year. This CD emerged from the public´s desire to have a recording of some of our present duet repertoire. ,
